On Sunday November 20, 2016, Evo Morales, President of Bolivia, was on board for the maiden voyage of the Línea Azul (blue line). The line is directly connected to the Línea Roja (red line) and will be the first line of Mi Teleférico that is connected to the ropeway network as part of Phase II. His ride as the first passenger took Evo Morales from the station "16 de Julio" to the university terminal "UPEA". Several cabins were unpacked just for this event. The President was visibly impressed: "Thanks to the Austrian company Doppelmayr, a great ally, a good investment."

A large number of special features and new benefits for the city make this line a highlight of the world's largest urban ropeway network. The official opening of the Línea Azul for public service is planned for spring 2017.
