Following the opening of the Ropeway Training Center in Dornbirn (AUT) in 2020, Doppelmayr/Garaventa is expanding its training offer for ropeway personnel. From May this year, Garaventa AG is providing training courses for reversible aerial tramways and funicular railways at its site in Uetendorf (CH).

Maximum safety, constant availability, top comfort. These are the features that set ropeways from Doppelmayr/Garaventa apart. Operating companies can reap the full potential of these installations when their employees have received the best possible training. Competent care of the ropeways also reduces operating costs. With the opening of the Ropeway Training Center in Dornbirn (AUT), Doppelmayr/Garaventa created a modern facility for the transfer of know-how on all aspects of continuous-movement ropeway installations. In May 2022, the ropeway manufacturer inaugurated another Ropeway Training Center for aerial tramways and funiculars at the Garaventa site in Uetendorf (CH).

Theory and practice combined
The new two-day courses focus on the know-how required for the operation and maintenance of aerial tramways and funiculars. The training is geared to operating and maintenance crew and also technical directors. Content includes fundamentals, function, wear reduction, maintenance tips and experience with a wide range of subsystems. Hands-on training plays a major role in these courses. The instructors are experienced engineers and technicians, customer support specialists and operations directors as well as external experts. Heinz Kieliger, the head of customer support at Garaventa, is very pleased about the opening of the new Ropeway Training Center: “With the Ropeway Training Center in Uetendorf, our customers will benefit from top-class training in the area of aerial tramways and funiculars, where theoretical knowledge is combined with practical implementation on real ropeway components.”

Complete package
Participants are accommodated at a hotel near the site. Parking facilities are available in front of the building. Direct contact with the training team gives course attendees the opportunity to get to know their contacts and customer support. The supporting program arranged for the evenings creates the ideal social environment for talking to other participants as well as the instructors and exchanging experiences. Garaventa’s customer support team takes care of all arrangements throughout the course. They look after the organization and provide all the necessary assistance for the participants – from arrival, board and lodging to course documents. Everything is done for the convenience of participants, who can then focus entirely on acquiring new know-how.
