Up to the Stanserhorn with the CabriO

Today, 29 June 2012, the world's first open-top ropeway at the Stanserhorn in Switzerland is officially put into operation. It is the world's first double-decker cabin with open top deck and allows for an unhindered and breathtaking view over the alpine world surrounding Lake Lucerne in Switzerland.

The CabriO lift is a worldwide unique project and was specifically designed for the requirements of the customer. It is a combination of the two ropeway systems Funifor and jig-back ropeway and was constructed in close co-operation with the individual competence centres of the Doppelmayr Group around the world.

Along an overall length of 2,319 m, the installation overcomes more than 1,000 metres in altitude and carries passengers to the top of the Stanserhorn in roughly 7 minutes.

Besides the open top deck, the track ropes running laterally and the levelling systems for avoiding longitudinal swing are world novelties too.
