During the course of 2018, Anton Schwendinger will be handing over his duties as managing director of Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH to Gerhard Gassner due to ill health. For Anton Schwendinger, this is a natural step motivated by his sense of responsibility toward the company. In future, he will continue to use his in-depth know-how and professionalism to assist Doppelmayr in a consultative capacity.

Gerhard Gassner is 43 years old, married, and father of two children. After leaving vocational college, he went on to study mechanical engineering and business economics at Graz University of Technology. In 2004, he took over the reins at his parents’ company, Gassner Stahlbau GmbH – a long-standing partner and member of the Doppelmayr Group.

Gassner Stahlbau GmbH focuses its activities on the construction of carriers (chairs) and towers within the Doppelmayr Group. It can therefore be said that Gerhard Gassner has had ropeways in the blood since his childhood. He is looking forward to taking up his management role at Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH, which he sees as an exciting challenge and an opportunity to play an active part in shaping the future of the Group.

The members of the Doppelmayr Group’s management board, Michael Doppelmayr and Hanno Ulmer, thank Anton Schwendinger for his unconditional commitment to the company, wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to working with him on projects in the future.

This means that with effect from January 1, 2019, at the latest, the management team at Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH will comprise Thomas Pichler (Sales, Marketing and Engineering) and Gerhard Gassner (Production, Administration, Finance).
