DCC gains the biggest order of the company's history at the airport of Oakland
DCC Doppelmayr Cable Car, a company of the Doppelmayr Group, was awarded the contract for the construction of a local transit system in California, USA. The system will be an integrated part of the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit System (BART) and connect the Oakland International Airport with the Coliseum train station, an important junction of the city of Oakland. In cooperation with the consortium Flatiron/Parsons that is responsible for the construction, DCC will build a 5.1 km long system with a total order volume of USD 361 m. (EUR 265 m.). The order share of the ropeway engineering of DCC amounts to USD 166 m. (EUR 122 m.). The start of the construction works is scheduled for the end of 2010 and the completion of the works as well as the start-up of the system are planned for 2014. Furthermore, DCC gained the contract for the operation of the system for 20 years with a contract value of USD 100 m. Among the development and construction, the operation of those systems is one of the core competences of DCC.
