Ropeways as a meaningful addition to the multimodal mobility mix of progressive urban transportation systems

Multimodality is complex – not only by definition but also to a large degree in terms of evaluating its requirements and their implementation. At InnoTrans, the international trade fair for transport technology that runs from September 20 through 23, 2022 in Berlin, Vorarlberg-based ropeway manufacturer Doppelmayr invites visitors to take part in a discussion forum on the topic of “Mobility as a Reflection of its Requirements, Options and Implementation” at its exhibition stand in Hall 2.2/450 at 4 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.

Doppelmayr has invited acknowledged experts in order to examine this complex topic comprehensively from different angles. Christian Kleinenhammann, managing director of the public transport operator Transdev Verkehr GmbH, will discuss the requirements of a transport operator to be met by the mobility of the future. Johannes Winter from Drees & Sommer will report on the challenges involved in the planning and implementation of transport infrastructure projects with new, multimodal approaches. The international planning and consulting company is currently working with the Institute of Transportation Research Stuttgart (VWI) to develop a study commissioned by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) on the “Integration of Urban Ropeway Projects” with a view to developing a guideline for the “Implementation of Ropeways as Part of Local Public Transit Networks”. Reinhard Fitz, who heads international business development at Doppelmayr, will show which custom-designed ropeway solutions meet the requirements to be met by future mobility concepts and provide an outlook on future multimodal developments.
