In October 2010 the world's longest reversible aerial ropeway was put into operation in Tatev, Armenia. With the world record length of 5,750 km the ropeway connects the village Halidzor with Tatev and the monastery there. The monastery from the 9th century is the most important cultural monument of the region. The 25-passenger reversible aerial ropeway that was built by the Swiss competence centre is part of a tourism development plan in Armenia and is operated throughout the entire year.
