After the official inauguration by the Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro, the first section of the new Cabletren Bolivariano de Petare with a total number of three stations went into operation on August 19, 2013. The second section will be finished until 2014. The new means of transport plays an important role for the urban traffic infrastructure in the metropolitan area of Caracas and presents a relief for the entire population. The Cabletren with a length of two kilometres connects the city of Petare with the foot of the recreational mountain region Warairarepano and transports up to 6,000 passengers per hour (3,000 PPHPD).
