Doppelmayr is given the contract for an automated public transport system

DCC Doppelmayr Cable Car, a full subsidiary of the Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group has been given the contract for building a Cable Liner Shuttle in Venezuela's capital Caracas. The automated local traffic system will connect two underground lines of the capital. Contractual partner for the 2.3 km long system are the Metro de Caracas and the Norberto Odebrecht S.A. The commission includes the ready-to-operate building works and assembly of the system. Planning and engineering for the installation will start immediately.

The Cable Liner Shuttle "Cabletren Bolivariano" is an important part of the urban development of Caracas, South America's second largest population centre. As part of the Metro de Caracas Public Transportation System, the automated people mover, or APM, will connect an existing Metro station, Metro Petare (Line 1), and Metro Waraira Repano (planned Line 6). Along its 2.3 km long line with a total of five stations, four walk-through trains with 5 cars each will circulate and provide a transport capacity up to 3000 passengers per hour and direction.

This already marks Doppelmayr's third project in Venezuela's capital. Recently, the forward-looking inner-city ropeway "Metro Cable San Agustín del Sur" has been opened. Works for the "Cabletren Bolivariano" will start immediately.

Decisive for awarding the contract for this ambitious project to DCC were the proven and outstanding advantages of the Cable Liner Shuttle system: Safe and nearly noise-free operation without emission of exhaust fumes, perfect functionality, highest availability, design according to the customers' wishes and the proven competence of the Doppelmayr Cable Car team.

Other Cable Liner Shuttle projects realised: MGM City Center, Las Vegas, USA, town shuttle Venice, Italy and Doha International Airport, Qatar
