After ten years, Garaventa CEO István Szalai has decided to hand over his duties, effective from 1 April 2018. During his time as CEO, Mr Szalai has secured Garaventa’s position as market leader in Switzerland and one of the world’s leading innovators in the construction of reversible aerial tramways and funicular railways. István Szalai will become Chairman of the Board of Directors of Garaventa and continue his work in the operational management of the Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group.


New CEO Arno Inauen has an in-depth understanding of the business. Mr Inauen is a business economist and an engineering graduate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) who is very well connected in the ropeways industry and widely recognised as a proven specialist. He has been COO on Garaventa's management team since 2014 and is looking forward to the challenge of becoming the new CEO: “I am so happy and excited to be continuing the excellent work of my predecessor and leading Garaventa into a successful future.”
