Following the customer requirements in summer tourism, the Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group has developed a solution for heat-repellent window panes for cabins. A special layer system reflects most of the heat component (infrared radiation) of the insolation but lets the light component (visible spectrum) through. This coating is applied to the window panes of the cabins in a special process called sputtering.
On installations with sputtered panes, especially on summer ropeways, the heat development inside the cabins is reduced, which further enhances the travel comfort of the passengers. If cabins with air conditioning or permanent ventilation are used, a considerable amount of the energy required for cooling can be saved by this new development.
