New perspective and never-before-seen views on the UNESCO world heritage "Upper Middle Rhine Valley"

The world's most modern ropeway will glide above the Rhine for the Federal Horticultural Show 2011 and during 2012 and 2013.

This summer, the citizens of Koblenz, as well as visitors to the city could already catch a glimpse of what will be offered in 2011 and the following years. As early as after the opening weekend in July 2010, it was clear that the ropeway connection between the Deutsches Eck and the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress will be the new attraction in Koblenz. The 3-month test operation was a success with almost 180,000 passengers.

A trip with the ropeway opens up a whole new perspective and never-before-seen views on the UNESCO world heritage "Upper Middle Rhine Valley". During the 4-minute trip, the 18 cabins glide along the 850 m long, self-supporting rope that is tensioned above the Rhine. Each cabin can transport up to 35 passengers, thus the 3S installation can transport up to 3,800 passengers per hour and direction.

The BUGA ropeway now will hibernate until the opening of the Federal Horticultural Show on April 15, 2011 with the exception of a few special trips. The ropeway will be retained in the years 2012 and 2013. More information: www.buga2011.de.
